A phase-field approach to pneumatic fracture with anisotropic crack resistance

چکیده
Abstract Phase-field models of fracture allow the prediction crack propagation and patterns. In this contribution, externally driven processes in linear finite elasticity are investigated. Different approaches to consider pneumatic pressure materials with non-isotropic resistance studied, combined, examined detail. The versatility proposed is proven by a series numerical simulations two three dimensions.

Crack Tip Constraint for Anisotropic Sheet Metal Plate Subjected to Mode-I Fracture
On the ground of manufacturing, sheet metal parts play a key role as they cover about half of the production processes. Sheet metals are commonly obtained from rolling and forming processes which causes misalignment of micro structure resulting obvious anisotropic characteristics and micro cracks. Presence of micro cracks poses serious attention, when stresses at the tip reach to the critical v...
متن کاملLaws of crack motion and phase-field models of fracture
Recently proposed phase-field models offer self-consistent descriptions of brittle fracture. Here, we analyze these theories in the quasistatic regime of crack propagation. We show how to derive the laws of crack motion either by using solvability conditions in a perturbative treatment for slight departure from the Griffith threshold, or by generalizing the Eshelby tensor to phase-field models....
متن کاملPhase-field simulation of anisotropic crack propagation in ferroelectric single crystals: effect of microstructure on the fracture process
Crack propagation during the indentation test of a ferroelectric single crystal is simulated using a phase-field model. This model is based on variational formulations of brittle crack propagation and domain evolution in ferroelectric materials. Due to the high compressive stresses near the indenter contact faces, a modified regularized formulation of the variational brittle fracture is coupled...
متن کاملOpen vertical sagittal fracture patella with fracture lateral condyle femur: approach to a rare injury
Patellar fracture is a relatively uncommon fracture especially the vertical sagittal type. In cases of high energy trauma injury, it is usually associated with fracture of ipsilateral distal femur or proximal tibia. However, the combination of vertical sagittal fracture patella and ipsilateral fracture lateral condyle is very rare. This necessitates judicious diagnosis and appropriate managemen...
متن کاملThermal Stress Resistance to Fracture and its Relation to with Resistance to Thermal Fatigue and Shock
Dense Silicon nitride was investigated to determine the effect of its microstructural parameters and densification on thermo-mechanical properties and thermal stress resistance to fracture initiation during a hot or cold mechanical and thermal shock testing. The different materials and microstructures were obtained by changing the parameters such as the type of the powder, additive, forming p...
